Mental visualization is a great way to introduce yourself to the ways of training your mind if you are new to meditation.

Gaining control of the powerful energy of the imagination, you are able to take yourself to other levels of consciousness, therefore giving yourself time out from your busy life.

You will be motivated to make positive changes to your life through the inspiring and uplifting nature of the imagination.

The following is an example of a visual meditation using something that pleases you to look at, such as a stone, a piece of wood, a picture or anthing you like.

Take note of what you are seeing but don't think about it or have a discussion in your mind about it. The mental power of your brain can note the details of the object, but there should be no mental activity occurring.

It is important to get beyond the curious nature of your mind, bring your focus back to the object whenever you find your mind has wandered.

You may find it helpful to record it.

Even though any object you wish to use is fine, a crystal is used as an example here.

This method makes use of visualization and as many other senses as possible.

Place the crystal on the floor some distance from where you will sit, after quieting yourself, focus on the colour, the cloudyness, the shape, the clarity of the crystal, take notice of whether it is rough or polished.

Think about the weight, how it would feel in your hands, whether it's warm or cold.

Then take notice of it's colour, what does it's colour remind you of? Maybe the shade of colour reminds you of a flower or forest, if so think of the smell this induces.

Be aware of the emotions that are linked to these associations, when you are ready, let the visualizations fade and come back to the room in your own time.

If you are new to visual guided meditation, it may take some practice before you can focus on the oject of your choice, don't give up YOU CAN DO IT. return from visual guided meditation to ways to meditate
